Licensed Psychologist, Child Clinical and School Psychology
Dr. Jones is a licensed psychologist who received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University (NSU). After completing an APA-accredited internship in Child Clinical and Pediatric Psychology at the Mailman Center for Child Development at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, she completed a 1-year post-doctoral residency in school psychology at Nova Southeastern University, where she provided services to children and families at University School and NSU’s Psychology Services Center.
Currently, Dr. Jones is an Assistant Clinical Professor at NSU’s Center for Psychological Studies. She serves as Assistant Director of the School-related Psychological Assessments and Clinical Interventions clinic housed within NSU’s Psychology Services Center. At NSU, Dr. Jones passionately teaches and supervises trainees in both school and clinical psychology. As a professor, Dr. Jones leads her students by example through her active involvement and leadership in state and national professional associations. She enjoys collaborating with her students on innovative research and service delivery projects, as well as on professional presentations.
Dr. Jones is first and foremost an advocate for children and families. She understands the challenges that parents face in trying to meet the needs of their children, particularly in navigating the educational system to ensure that their children receive an optimal educational program. Through her compassionate and collaborative approach, she will seek to address your concerns and to provide you with support through this process.
Dr. Jones has developed various areas of expertise through her clinical, research, and didactic work. She has completed developmental assessments with infants and young children as part of many research projects and within several clinical settings, including an interdisciplinary early intervention program for infants and toddlers ages birth through 36 months. Dr. Jones has advanced knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders and is trained to utilize and to interpret the Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI) and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS). While working at the Mailman Segal Center for Human Development at NSU, Dr. Jones assisted in the development of and served as the chief psychologist of the Autism Spectrum Disorders Assessment and Diagnostic Clinic of the Unicorn Children’s Foundation Clinic. Furthermore, she has experience conducting assessments and delivering consultation to children and adolescents with a variety of medical conditions that impact neurocognitive functioning, including cancer and blood disorders. Lastly, Dr. Jones has vast experiencing working with children in various capacities within schools to support their functioning. She draws upon this knowledge and these experiences when collaborating with educators, when evaluating school environments, and when designing interventions to address school-related concerns and needs.
Dr. Jones specializes in providing comprehensive evaluations for school-related academic, learning, behavioral, and developmental problems. Through the use of specialized assessment tools and strategies, Dr. Jones will identify your child’s strengths and needs and will work collaboratively with you, with school personnel, and with other key stakeholders to plan interventions that provide the best opportunity to achieve a positive impact on your child’s functioning at school, at home, and in the community.
